Police Ask Public's Help In Locating Westhampton Purse Thief

Police are asking the public's help in identifying and locating a man accused of stealing a purse out of a car in Westhampton.

The alleged purse thief reportedly pried open the window of a 2014 Nissan parked at the Suffolk County Nature Preserve at 613 Old Riverhead Road on Wednesday, June 26 at around 12:40 p.m. and stole a purse, Suffolk County Police said.

The man then left in a white Audi Q7 seen in a surveillance photo, according to police.  

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest, police said.

Anyone with information can contact Suffolk County Crime Stoppers to submit an anonymous tip by calling 1-800-220-TIPS, texting “SCPD” and the message to “CRIMES” (274637) or by email here.

All calls, text messages and emails will be kept confidential, said police.
